Congress Makes Year-End Push for COVID Relief Package

Legislative Package to be Considered Alongside Federal Funding Deadline, Includes Key Provisions for IAM Members

With only a handful of days left in the 2020 Congressional session, yesterday evening a bipartisan set of lawmakers in the House and Senate introduced two separate pieces of legislation to address broad-based COVID related economic relief, which includes funding for testing, schools, vaccine distribution and an extension of enhanced unemployment benefits.

USTC J9 Conditions-Based Movement Call (15 Dec)

The read-ahead slides from the 15 December USTC J9 call with industry and the Services contain very few changes from the last few weeks. There continue to be letters of suspension issued for Health Protection Protocols. And despite the good news about vaccinations, VADM Mewbourne (USTC Deputy Commander) stated that in briefings to the Secretary of Defense, the DoD is saying that the darkest days of COVID are still ahead of us. And COVID related deaths and new COVID cases will continue to rise and likely peak around the end of January, before they start to fall. Industry is reminded that the protocols are in place for the foreseeable future; so please continue to comply.

Recalculation of Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSS) Scores for the 15 May to 31 July 2021 Performance Period (PP)

USTC J9 Update Number 21-0018

In accordance with Table 403-6 of the DTR Part IV, Chapter 403, the data pull timeframe for survey scores for this period is 1 January – 31 December 2020 and effective for the 15 May 2021 PP. The window to submit CSS appeals will run through 2359, CST on 11 January 2021 and appeals received after this date will not be considered.

Milley Wants 'Hard Look' at Restricting Families from More Overseas Tours

Families joining troops on accompanied tours to overseas assignments could be a thing of the past in the proposed shift away from maintaining permanent bases in other nations, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley said Thursday. Milley said he was concerned about military families living in overseas locations where they could be at risk.

USTC J9 Non-Peak Call (10 Dec)

The 10 Dec non-peak season call produced no major insights. Slide #6 was quickly skipped as it appears to have obvious data problems. Industry asked J9 to relook at slide 18, Missed RDDs as the numbers don’t appear to add up when you compare the percent of shipments that go into SIT; the overall missed RDD all shipments; and the missed RDDs direct delivery.

USTC J9 Conditions-Based Movement Call (8 Dec)

There was nothing of particular significance covered on the J9 Read-ahead slides for the 8 Dec meeting. None of the Services had comments during their portion of the meeting. J9 provided just a few updates.

USTC J9 Conditions-Based Movement Call (1 Dec)

J9 stated they were appreciative of the work that went into industry and Service responses to business rules. They believe the changes made to business rules reflect that they are listening to our inputs and looking for common ground; but with an eye toward making changes they believe are pivotal to the customer and “tipping the scales” towards customer requirements.
