February edition of the DAB Digest

February 06, 2023

Welcome to the February edition of the DAB Digest! While most of the country is in the coldest part of the year, it’s been sunny and warm here in Florida. But I’m not rubbing it in or anything.

I’ve been thinking about what’s coming up for the industry, and wanted to share some information this month about why you should attend the 47th Annual Dispatchers Convention and a recent IAM/HomeSafe webinar that started the conversation about what those of us who do military and governmental moves can expect moving forward.

In January, IAM was the first association to host a webcast featuring HomeSafe Alliance CEO Al Thompson and President Matt Dolan. They provided an update on where things stand and goals for moving the process forward with the Global Household Goods Contract (GHC).  There were more than 400 participants, which is a testament to how interested we all are in understanding how this will impact our business. If you couldn’t join, you can check it out here. There’s a lot of good information and our industry colleagues asked some great questions, so it’s well worth your time.

Learn more about joining the HomeSafe Alliance network.

HomeSafe also made a commitment to hosting regional events to share more information and updates. As of now, those dates have not been published, but we’ll let you know when they are. Join IAM’s U.S. Domestic Asset-Based Mover Groups on LinkedIn and Facebook and keep up-to-date on everything that’s going on.

And speaking of what’s happening soon, it’s time to get ready to network with your industry colleagues at the Dispatchers Convention which will be in Macon, Ga. March 30 – April 2 at the Macon Marriott City Center.

This year’s hosts are Bruce Riggins and the team at Cicero’s Moving & Storage.

If you’ve never attended before, this is a great year to do it! It’s an event designed for networking, allowing you more time to connect with fellow movers and industry suppliers alike. There will be plenty of opportunities to talk one-on-one with colleagues, have some fun and learn something new.

More than 250 attendees are expected. I’ll be there, and I hope you will be, too! Learn more and register here.

Lastly, the DAB Management Board would appreciate your help in recruiting new members. As a reminder, one of the DAB’s goals for 2023 is to have at least one new mover member from each state. We would also like to grow the DAB Ally membership so it can better serve your needs. If you know someone we should contact, please let me or Daniel Bradley know.
