Used Household Goods and Personal Effects

Documents Required

  • Passport
  • Packing list
  • Inventory list
  • Copy of lease agreement 
  • Letter of employment
  • Original bill of lading (OBL) / air waybill (AWB)
  • Czech ID card (instead of a lease agreement for Czech nationals)
  • Customs import declaration provided by the local embassy (diplomats)

 

Specific Information

  • Shipments are duty free if documentation requirements are met.

Motor Vehicles

Documents Required

  • Passport
  • Packing list
  • Inventory list
  • Copy of lease agreement 
  • Letter of employment
  • Czech ID card (instead of rental contract for Czech nationals)
  • Vehicle title
  • Original OBL / AWB
  • Purchase invoice
  • Vehicle operations manual

 

Specific Information

  • Vehicles must pass a Czech technical inspection (STK).
  • Vehicles passing inspection will be issued a certificate valid for 3 months to allow time for registration; the operations manual and technical specifications of the vehicle are required.
  • Persons residing in the Czech Republic for more than 12 months must register motor vehicles.
  • Vehicles must be less than 5 years old for some types of vehicles and 8 years old for others.
  • The import tax is CZK 10,000; however, an import tax is not required if the owner of the goods has resided abroad for at least 12 months and has used it within the 6 months prior to importation.

Pets

Documents Required

  • Vaccination record
  • Veterinary health certificate

 

Specific Information 

  • Pets must be identifiable through tattoo or an electronic identification system.

Restricted/Dutiable Items

  • Coats, fur, leather shoes made of animal products from protected species (authorization required).
  • Medication for personal use only is permitted.
  • Limits by land:  cigarettes (40), cigarillos (20), cigars (10), smoking tobacco (50 g)
  • Limits by air or sea:  cigarettes *200), cigarillos (100), cigars (50), smoking tobacco (250 g) 
  • Items for personal use of a non-commercial nature may be imported within the limits indicated:
    • Air or sea:                    430 euro
    • Land:                            300 euro
    • Age 15 and younger      150 euro
  • There are no restrictions currently from another EU country; other countries must not exceed 10,000 euro.
  • Food products may be permitted if in original sealed container; check with destination agent for further details.

Prohibited Items

  • Meat and dairy products from non-EU countries; some exceptions apply.
  • Protected species and products identified by CITES (e.g., ivory, tortoise shells, etc.).

Consignment Instructions

Recommended: Contact the destination agent to ensure all requirements have been met prior to import, especially for differences regarding air / sea shipments.
