Membership Renewal Time is Here

Electronic renewal notification was sent to the billing point of contact on file for each company on December 8. Here are the renewal options:
Pay Online 
  1. Go to: /Account/Login.aspx. Once you log in, click your name to access the self-service portion of the website. Once there, click on "Pay Open Membership Invoices" and follow the prompts to renew online.
  2. If you have forgotten or do not know your user name and password, click this link and follow the prompts to retrieve your information.
Pay by Check or Bank Wire
  1. To pay by check, make your check payable to International Shippers Association and include the invoice number on the check. Checks must be drawn on a USA bank account. Mail your check to: International Association of Movers, 5904 Richmond Hwy, Suite 404, Alexandria, VA 22303 USA
  2. To pay by bank wire, email membership@iamovers.org  to request IAM banking details. Please include the invoice number on the bank wire.
To Print a Copy of Your Invoice, go to /Account/Login.aspx. Once you log in, click your name to access the self-service portion of the website. Once there, click on Invoice History." Your company's most recent invoice will be at the top of the right-hand column. Click "View Order," then click "Print." Contact Julia O'Connor.

Applications for AFW Scholarships and Nominations for HOH officially open Jan. 1

All IAM members and others eligible in the industry are urged to review requirements for the Alan F. Wohlstetter Scholarship and the Hall of Honor. These are two important programs through which IAM gives back to the industry as a whole. Contact Margaret Kerr.

Congratulations to Brian Limperopulos

IAM Director of Programs Brian Limperopulos and his wife Lena have an extra reason to celebrate this year. Molly Jacqueline Limperopulos born at 11:47 pm on December 18. Mom and baby perfectly healthy. We do not have photos yet but cannot wait to see the new addition to the IAM family. Congratulations Brian and Lena!

The effective enforcement of safety, repairing critical infrastructure and expediting the permitting process are priorities at the U.S. Department of Transportation that Elaine Chao said she will address if confirmed as transportation secretary in the Trump administration.
Truck Alliance Inc., an Uber-type service for trucks known in China as Huochebang, raised about $115 million in a financing round that valued the startup at $1 billion. Trucking remains the primary means of ferrying goods across China. More than 80% of goods are delivered via roads in a country whose logistics sector was worth $1.6 trillion in 2013, Deloitte has estimated. But the industry remains fragmented and inefficient.
The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, yesterday, shut three facilities for non-compliance with Ship and Port Facility Security, ISPS, code. The facilities are Heyden Petroleum Jetty, Ijora; Waziri Jetty, Dockyard Road, Apapa, and Starz Marine Shipyard Limited, Onne, Rivers State.
The Government of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Railway have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the British company DP Rail to deliver a new 240 km railway between Dhaka and Payra. DP Rail said it expects rail freight services from the port to start in 2024. In its first year, the line is predicted to transport two million TEU, increasing to around four million TEU by 2030.
Two hundred and one containerships and just under 700,000 container slots have been scrapped this year. According to Braemar ACM, by 20 December, 699,000 teu of capacity had been sent for demolition. This compares with 187,500 teu in the whole of 2015.
Maersk Line launched a mobile app to manage and track cargo on the move. This app will allow users access to comprehensive information on shipments, track cargo in real time, check schedules, changes in destination and documentation.
Amazon.com Inc. may be developing mobile technology so it can schedule and track truck shipments of its products with a few taps or clicks-the next step in the e-commerce giant's bid to become its own global freight broker and compete with companies in the $150 billion business of booking transportation.

Passing of Arthur E. "Buddy" Morrissette, Jr.
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Arthur E. "Buddy" Morrissette, Jr. on December 18, 2016, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Buddy was 79.

Ben Cross joins the University Moving and Storage Executive Team
University Moving and Storage has announced the addition of Ben Cross, CRP, to their senior executive team. In his new role, Cross will lead strategic growth initiatives. Ben Cross adds over a decade of proven leadership in the transportation industry, most recently as the senior executive who founded Forward Relocation.

The addition of Ben Cross to the leadership team at University, is part of an ongoing investment to grow the company headquartered in Metro Detroit, with offices in Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Grand Rapids. Cross currently serves on the board of the Detroit Regional Relocation Council and is active within various Worldwide Employee Relocation Council committees.

The Trilogy Group's Prepayment Audit Plan Approved by GSA Audits Division
The Trilogy Group, a leading provider of client support services for the domestic and international relocation and transportation industry, announced that its Transportation Invoice Prepayment Audit Plan has been approved by GSA Audits Division.

Glenn Stephenson joins Mudanzas Gou as Director of Client Relations
Glenn Stephenson has joined Mudanzas Gou as Director of Client Relations. Glenn's responsibilities at Mudanzas Gou will include working with our current clients and suppliers, as well as new business development. Glenn began his career in the international relocation industry with The Viking Corporation in St. Thomas, USVI in 1977. From there, Glenn joined North American International holding positions in Cairo, Egypt and returning to the headquarters office of North American Van Lines in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Navigating a series of challenging restructures and developing multiple business lines at the NAVL home office, Glenn departed to peruse an entrepreneurial venture in the purchase of Saint Vrain Moving & Storage. Following his time at Saint Vrain, Glenn sold his interests to his partners and has held key international positions with Beltmann North American, Prudential Relocation (TRFCA) and MS Move Management/Schneider GRS in both Sales and Operations Management.
