As required by the Association's by-laws, herein is formal notice that there will be a meeting of the IAM Governing Members during the upcoming 54th IAM Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
 
Each year the Governing Membership of the Association is required to hold formal elections to determine which individuals will serve on the IAM Executive Committee.

Governing Member positions include Chair, Vice Chair, and four (4) Governing Members-At-Large.
 
Details on the responsibilities of these Governing Member positions on the IAM Executive Committee, as well as the election procedures, can be found within the IAM by-laws, which are located on the IAM website.
 
The Governing Member Elections will take place during the Governing Members' Meeting, held as part of the IAM 54th Annual Meeting and Expo at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA over the dates of October 21-24, 2016.

Governing Members' Meeting and Elections-Monday, October 24, 2016 
Currently scheduled for the hours of 9:00 AM-12:00 Noon
 
To facilitate the formation of an official slate of candidates, I have appointed the following three individuals to serve as the 2016 Nominations Committee for this year's Governing Member elections.
 
Jackie Dennis - Accelerated International Forwarders, LLC
 
Jeanette Homan - Cannon Moving & Storage, Inc.
 
Jamie McDaniel - Suddath Government Services
 
Should you wish to have your name placed into nomination for any of these positions, please contact a member of the Nominations Committee no later than Friday, July 22.

Candidate Profiles: Each new and incumbent candidate will be asked to submit a short personal profile and color headshot (high resolution for printing in the magazine-no cell phone shots, please).Those profiles and photos should be sent to The Portal Editor, Joyce Dexter, at joycedexter47@gmail.com . In order to meet our publication dates, those profiles must be submitted absolutely no later than Monday, August 1, to ensure they can be included in the Annual Meeting issue of The Portal magazine.

All six Governing Member positions-Chair, Vice Chair and four (4) Member-At-Large positions-are being competed.

All incumbents now serving on the IAM Executive Committee have formally advised their intent to seek reelection to the positions they now hold.
 
The two Core Member positions and the one IAM-YP position on the Executive Committee are competed every two years and will competed this year as well, but under separate election processes.
 
The Association's election process does allow for nominations from the floor, providing the person qualifies for the position.

The success of any volunteer-driven organization rests in the strength of its leadership. It is through the election process that you, as Governing Members, have the privilege and responsibility to take an engaged role in the direction of this Association.
