Make Time for Sessions At The IAM Annual Meeting

We are excited to welcome all our members back in person this year next week in Atlanta! One difference you may observe next week is the range and quality of learning sessions we are hosting this year. This was a byproduct of IAM’s continued investment in the IAM Learning training program and to remain valuable to our members through the pandemic with relevant webcasts on topics important to your business.

From the latest on electronic inventories to industry-wide efforts to tackle industry sustainability to ocean freight updates following the passage of OSRA and managing the risk associated with shipping lithium batteries, we have a great program set up for all attendees. This is not to mention all the conversations we are hosting with corporate, RMC, Government, and Military clients.

Take another look at the schedule online to make sure you won’t regret missing one of these sessions. If you haven't already, register today so you can be part of these great events!

FMC initiates chassis overhaul study, part of Ocean Shipping Reform Act

The Federal Maritime Commission is funding a $500,000 study to address challenges within U.S. intermodal chassis pools, which have contributed to congestion at major U.S. ports during the pandemic, the agency said last week.

Come to the Ocean Freight Update: The Latest on the Ocean Shipping Reform Act and FMC Regulations session at the IAM Annual Meeting. Learn from expert Karyn Booth about the Ocean Shipping Reform Act (OSRA) and what it means for movers who book ocean freight to and from the United States. OSRA also addresses how detention and demurrage can be charged by shipping lines and terminal operators. This has long been a key issue for IAM Members and Karyn will be able to share more on how OSRA will impact that.

Movers Doing Good: Gosselin Works to Clean up Rivers

Gosselin recently organized its own River Clean-Up week. Via locally initiated actions around the central theme of ‘River clean-up’ Gosselin wanted to motivate/activate all Gosselin colleagues across the world to set-up a local initiative (either big or small) as an important first step in the Gosselin sustainability ambitions for 2022.

The offices in Switzerland, Zagreb, Warsaw, Paris, the UK, Bucharest, Moscow, Prague, and Rome all participated, and the Belgian colleagues in Deurne and Brussels joined in as well.

Together they collected 851.8 kilos of waste, a clear sign that there is still a lot of work to do.
