Happy New Year IAM-YP! The YP Management Board (YPMB) is looking forward to a great year with new initiatives and opportunities for all YP members to engage in 2022.

Thank you to Lennert de Jong, Ashley Gorb, Nirav Thakker, and Terence Wee for serving again on the YPMB. I would like to extend a special welcome to all new YPMB members, Anu Dattani, Luis Holst, Heidi Liou, and Vivek Pawar. I appreciate your

time and contributions, and look forward to working with you all in 2022.

The mission of IAM-YP is to provide global moving and mobility professionals under the age of 40 with professional development, networking and philanthropic opportunities. IAM-YP will share more information regarding these efforts in the next newsletter. The YPMB is planning an upcoming webinar for professional development and discussing how YP can contribute to a global relief effort, as well as contributing to the GGI.

The YPMB welcomes Chris Lantz with Bekins A-1 Movers Inc., and the current DAB Chairman, who has recently joined IAM-YP. We look forward to creating synergies amoung our groups, networking and working together to accomplish shared goals.

One important initiative for the YPMB this year is to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage our members to get active and stay healthy. Recently, Terence Wee shared information regarding our new IAM-YP Strava Group on the IAM-YP Facebook page. If you are not a member of the IAM-YP Facebook page, please join and connect to our IAM-YP Strava Group to share your activity. The YPMB will share more content leading up to Mental Health Awareness Month in May, as we are planning a virtual event and would like you all to join.

We are looking forward toward a successful conference and hope to see everyone this year in Atlanta. The YPMB will plan a full day of activies for all YP Members and of course host the IAM-YP Annual Mixer. If you are interested in getting more involved with IAM-YP, or would like to sponsor any YP events at the 2022 IAM Conference in Atlanta, please reach out to Julia O’Connor at juliao@iamovers.org

Wishing everyone a very Happy 2022 and best wishes for a successful year ahead.

Sheena Kiser

A Farewell from Matt and Juhana

With mixed feelings it is time to say goodbye to our period serving on the YP-board.
For many years both Juhana and I have given our time, effort, and ideas to serve the fantastic IAM-YP community:

Over these past years the YP-Group has further grown to a successful community of like-minded young professionals who seek guidance, knowledge, and business relations. All under the “safe” wings of the IAM leadership team, who actively engage and involve themselves with the YP members.

Working with our business friends to achieve a greater goal has helped us develop as better leaders, persons and has given us many close friends for many years to come. Needless to say, both of us of course will stay active, and engage with the YP board to support them achieve their future goals.

I personally have great memories on our team building events, late nights and early mornings as well as knowing that whatever issue I might have, there is always a friend I can call for advice. For me (Matthieu) it now is time to serve the IAM in another way, unless the raise the YP bear some more years, so I can feel young 😉

Juhana will stay involved on the side, advising the board, and enjoying just a few more years of calling himself a “young mover”, although by years of experience he might be ready for the Hall of Honor! 😊

A long time ago when I(Juhana) was still green as a vegetable in the conference side of the moving industry, a wise man told me that networking and being part of something in this business is the most important thing. It will give you so much and help you in so many ways. I cannot tell you how right he was.

IAM-YP has had a huge impact on my life - also outside of work. It’s simply amazing. This is a chance no one should ever miss.

The funds can be applied to any program that delivers educational or professional development content for the transportation, physical distribution, logistics, and other related fields in the global moving and mobility industry. In the words of Maria Andrea Rodriguez, YP member and Chair of the Alan F. Wohlstetter Scholarship Fund Board:

“The AFWSF decided a while back that we needed to adapt the scope of the scholarship in order to add a program that would benefit our industry in a more direct way. While we will continue to promote the college scholarships, we believe that with the constant change now more than ever we need to stay up to date with new trends and

skills.  We believe that there isn't a better way than the industry training options created for our industry. This new scholarship (Industry training program-ITP) is meant for those industry trainings! We hope you take advantage of this opportunity and see approved trainings for which you may apply for the ITP.”

Applications for IAM members, dependents of members, or student members to begin the training program of their choice are a quick and easy. There is no limit to the amount of applicants per company and the diversity of programs allow for training at any skill level.
