U.S. FMC Announces National Shipper Advisory Committee Membership

The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission today announced the membership of its newly formed National Shipper Advisory Committee. The Committee is comprised of 24 members, evenly divided between those who export cargo from and those who import cargo to the United States, that will advise the Commission on policies relating to the competitiveness, reliability, integrity, and fairness of the international ocean freight delivery system.

Join us on Sept. 18 for World Cleanup Day! Even if you only have a few minutes to spare, there are many ways to make a difference:

  • Go for a walk and pick up trash along the way
  • Go through your clothes and belongings to donate items you no longer use – giving them a second life keeps others from buying new

Atlas World Group, Inc. Expands Legal Department, Names Amanda Edge as Corporate Counsel

, the parent company of Atlas Van Lines, Inc., has named Amanda Edge to the newly created position of Corporate Counsel. Prior to joining Atlas, Edge served as the assistant vice president of legal services for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.

 

In this role, Edge will provide legal counsel for Atlas World Group and its subsidiaries in the context of the strategic and tactical objectives of the enterprise, while balancing the need for practical legal and business solutions. Items of focus for Edge will be wide-ranging, with an emphasis on contracts, litigation management, employment law, and regulatory compliance, among others.

Echo Global Logistics enters into Definitive Merger Agreement to be acquired by The Jordan Company for $48.25 per share in cash

, a leading provider of technology-enabled transportation and supply chain management services, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by funds managed by The Jordan Company, L.P., a global private equity firm, for an equity value of approximately $1.3 billion. Through this transaction, Echo will become a private company, which it expects will provide additional resources and greater flexibility to continue to build its technology and data science platform and enhance its value proposition to shippers and carriers.
