U.S. Senate Passes Legislation to Prevent U.S. Customs and Border Protection from Selling Transferee Personal Data

Yesterday evening, the U.S. Senate today passed by a vote of 68-32, S. 1260, the U.S. Competition and Innovation Act (USICA), which included a key provision directing the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury to ensure that any personally identifiable information (PIII) (including social security and passport numbers), are removed from a vessel, aircraft, or vehicle manifest, before that manifest is provided for public disclosure.

Labor, wood and equipment shortages creating havoc for some troops moving this summer

This year’s moving season for military personnel and their families is in high gear, and some troops are already feeling the effects of stretched capacity in the moving industry. IAM's Dan Bradley said that a variety of factors are causing the situation of stretched capacity. He’s seeing instances earlier this year of companies having to “turn back” moves to TRANSCOM they had previously accepted and scheduled for service members because of unforeseen problems with labor or other issues.

FMC Accepting Applications for National Shipper Advisory Committee

The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) said it is accepting applications from qualified members of the international trade community wishing to serve on its newly formed National Shipper Advisory Committee (NSAC).

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Clarifies Permissible COVID-19 Vaccine Incentives & Requirements

The EEOC provided long-awaited formal guidance surrounding vaccine incentives and requirements, in addition to updating several FAQs. IAM has followed this area closely for member companies, as vaccine incentives, requirements and other disclosures have been under review since late last year. Employers should keep in mind potential employee limitations and provide reasonable accommodations within the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines.

In April, the American city of Auburn welcomed the Bernini & the Roman Baroque exposition. For this expo, fifty paintings and other objects created in the provocative style of Bernini, famous for the Trevi Fountain in Rome, travelled from Italy to Alabama. “This move owes its success to the tight scheduling and strict precautionary measures,” says Roberta from Gosselin Italy.

Ian Waters to retire from OMNI

The OMNI Board has confirmed that Ian Waters is to retire from his position as general manager of the organisation with effect from April 2022. In a statement to the OMNI members, dated 4 June 2021, OMNI President, Nigel Saunders, said that Ian’s retirement comes after 32 years of dedicate service to the network.
