IAM Signs Joint Letter to Congress about Reinstating the Moving Expense Tax Deduction

IAM President Charles White signed on to a joint letter to congressional leaders, urging them to reinstate the moving expense tax deduction effective Jan. 1 of this year, and also asked them to not increase corporate or individual tax rates at this time.

Scholarship Deadline Approaching - Apply Now for $5000 Award

 

is the cornerstone of the International Association of Movers’ scholastic assistance initiative. Named for distinguished Association founder and General Counsel Emeritus Alan F. Wohlstetter, the fund benefits the employees of IAM member companies and their dependents, as well as students. The AFW Scholarship Fund awards scholarships of US $5,000 each to students who are pursuing degrees in logistics and transportation. The application deadline is June 1.

 

The Rising Star Award - Nominate Someone Today!

The individual receiving this honor may be selected for a wide range of achievements, but overall, will have distinguished themselves through a commitment to professional development, networking with the young professional community, or engaging in philanthropic activities impacting the global moving and mobility industry.

AFRA Recruits Simone Hill to top spot

The Australian Furniture Removers Association has appointed Simone Hill as its new Executive Director. Simone was most recently involved consulting and training for the self storage industry throughout Australasia and before that was CEO and In-House Counsel of the Self Storage Association. Simone has a Masters degree in Law and has lectured at University of Newcastle.

 

The AFRA council were impressed with Simone’s energy and dynamic approach to the interview process and believe this will bring a new dynamic to the association.
