Sydney and Australian Port Congestion Update - 9 November 2020
Whilst improving, the port congestion in Sydney has continued and empty containers tied up in the system are still said to be in the order of 50,000 TEU/equivalent and AIMA Members are regularly being confronted with shipping lines in Sydney not being able to receive back empty containers once the mover has unloaded the containers. As a result, movers are incurring storage costs for these empty containers until the shipping line involved is able to accept the empty container back at their Empty Container Park. YPs Raise Money for Move For Hunger
|
During the Social Mixer event held at the IAM Virtual Annual Meeting, the Young Professionals partnered with Move For Hunger to raise money to support those who are hungry and food insecure in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event entailed a trivia contest to allow participants to test their knowledge among industry colleagues in a fun and interactive setting. In lieu of a fee for the Social Mixer ticket, the YPs asked for a donation to support Move for Hunger. The YPs were able to more than double their donation goal by raising $2,300. There is still time to donate online through the IAM Young Professional support page.

The Domestic Asset-Based (DAB) initiative continues to roll forward. The newest development is The U.S. DAB Digest, which is a regular newsletter that will share news and updates on information important to US-based independent movers and van line agents. Even if you are not a “DAB” mover, this new group will expand the number of companies in the IAM Network, which will provide your company with more service provider options in the world’s largest moving market and greater protection under the RPP.
