Annual Dues Notices Sent

IAM's Membership Team sent out dues notices early this week. Some members have already paid, and we appreciate their diligence and zeal. The membership year starts on Jan. 1. Please if you have any questions or have not yet received an invoice.

Ebru Demirel Joins the Hall of Honor Selection Committee

Ebru Demirel recently joined the Hall of Honor Selection Committee. Ebru is President and Partner of her family company, Asya International Movers, based in Turkey, where she has been working for the last 26 years. She has extensive experience in international moving and relocation services. In 1996 she started Bedel Mobility Solutions to offer immigration and relocation services for clients in Turkey and she has been the CEO of Bedel since then.

 

Ebru has served on FIDI's Board since 2013 and became the President of the Association in 2019 during the Annual Conference. Ebru also takes different roles at the International Fine art Movers Association (ICEFAT) and served as a member of the Standards Committee for helping in developing standards for fine art movers. She is also on the Board of Trustees of a nonprofit association that supports young and talented people with college scholarships. She lives in Istanbul, is interested in long distance running, both marathons and ultra-trails.

In addition, Ella Helder recently stepped off this Committee after more than 10 years of service. Thank you, Ella, for all you have done for the committee and for IAM!

Bentzel wins Senate confirmation to maritime regulatory post

New FMC Commissioner Carl Bentzel fills the fifth and final slot on the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC), which oversees the import and export of used HHGs / PEs in the US.

IAM to Sponsor 2020 Young Movers Conference

IAM is pleased to announce our participation as a sponsor for the 2020 Young Movers Conference, May 28-30 in Dublin, Ireland. The 28th edition of the European-based conference is appropriately named “Moving Conversations” as the moving industry continues to adapt to the many changes it faces. IAM is excited to be a part of the substantive conversations and collaborations that provide a pathway to success.

 

Over the course of three days, the YMC brings together young movers to provide networking opportunities, seminars, and group activities that will provide lasting memories among a dynamic group of participants.

Arpin International Group Honored with Sterling Lexicon Gold Award for Service Excellence

The Celebration of Suppliers ceremony by Sterling Lexicon was held on October 15, 2019 in Boston, Massachusetts. Over 250 relocation professionals attended the event. There, Bridget Ritchie, Arpin’s Vice President of Global Business Development – Corporate Accounts, proudly accepted the Gold Award for Service Excellence on behalf of Arpin International Group.

Crown’s New 2020 Fleet Additions

Crown Worldwide Moving and Storage, LLC has recently expanded its local fleet to include 13 new 26-foot bobtail trucks. This updated fleet is now more fuel efficient, has GPS tracking and has been branded with new Crown-Armstrong graphics specific for the business divisions they were built to serve.

 

“This is an important investment for our company,” says Tori Ferrante, Crown’s President & CEO. “We take pride in the equipment we have on the road. Additionally, the operational efficiencies of our new fleet have helped drive overall costs down.”

 

These 2020 trucks come customized with low profile Morgan bodies for commercial work and high cube bodies for the household goods division. All trucks are outfitted with 3500 lb. liftgates and fuel efficient- carb compliant Cummins engines.

Stevens Receives Award from ARC

Lisa Beranich, representing Stevens, was pleased to accept the Accountability Award from Director/Founder William Mulholland of American Relocation Connections at their first annual conference in Puerto Rico on Nov. 14. The accountability award reflects Stevens commitment to ARC, the relocating employee and family. As such, Stevens and ARC must embrace a culture of accountability to ensure that we are truly supporting the large obligations that our clients and transferees entrust us with. We are honored to accept this award and be a continuing partner to ARC and their relocating transferees.

Gerson Relocation welcomes Melanie Winkworth as Client Services Manager
