IAM President Meets with APL
IAM President Charles White met with senior representatives of APL recently to discuss a number of topics, to include the USTC outsourcing initiative for household goods and its potential effects on the international market; current status of the US Flag vessel fleet; changes occurring with the International Shippers Association; and all the variables effecting west coast port congestion; e.g., rail issues, chassis shortages, the tariff environment, truck and driver shortages and increasing trucking rates.
APL is working hard on LA-LB port congestion mitigation actions and believe they will see improvement soon. TSPs are reminded to update DPS and their customers on significant delays caused by port congestion, and ensure PPSOs understand the source of delays and what actions you have taken to help resolve the situation.
