    Dec 7, 2016 — IAM, along with a coalition representing retailers, manufacturers, truckers, transportation intermediaries and other business groups today asked the Federal Maritime Commission to set new policy preventing terminal operators and ocean carriers from charging unfair fees when uncontrollable incidents such as storms and strikes keep cargo from being picked up from ports on time.

    Oct 1, 2015 — Should service members pay for extra costs associated with shipping home alcohol from overseas locations as part of their household goods? “In the past, industry had been told that any excess cost over and above the normal customs cost would be payable directly by the military members ... that was the standard for a number of years,” IAM Senior VP Chuck White said. “Now SDDC has questioned that paradigm.”

    Apr 2, 2015 — On Mar. 31, IAM President Terry Head and Senior Vice President Chuck White met with the new Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Personal Property Director, Lt. Col. Michael Erhardt; the outgoing Personal Property Director, Capt. Aaron Stanley; and other key SDDC staffers. The key discussion item was obviously SDDC’s recent decision not to allow shipment refusals during the 2015 Peak Season.

    Jul 9, 2014 — At a luncheon held on June 19, the Washington, DC chapter of the National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA-DC) formally installed its new Board of Directors for 2014/2015.   • IAM Announces 2012 Alan F. Wohlstetter Scholarship Fund Recipients

    Oct 11, 2012 — With nearly 2,000 attendees gathered on the second day of the International Association of Mover’s 50th Annual Meeting on October 11, the Alan F. Wohlstetter Scholarship Fund Committee named 10 individuals who each were awarded $5,000 scholarships in 2012. The Fund honors IAM’s general counsel emeritus Alan F. Wohlstetter, who in 1962 proposed forming the Association and authored its by-laws.
