The biggest ship ever to visit the U.S. East Coast will make its maiden call in Charleston, South Carolina next month after sailing through the expanded Panama Canal from China. The MV Cosco Development, which measures 1,200 feet long and 158 feet wide, can transport up to 13,092 TEUs. It is scheduled to call at the South Carolina Ports Authority's (SCPA) terminal in Charleston Harbor on May 13.

Commercial vehicles aren't the only mode of transportation that can be automated, but when it comes to urban spaces, they're likely to be the early movers.
Hapag-Lloyd announced the new North East Asia Australia Express with dedicated allocation serving Japan, Korea and North / Central China to Australia.
Global logistics provider UPS Inc. has expanded its global dangerous goods shipping program, increasing both the volume and the types of goods that it carries between 36 countries in North America, Europe, and Asia, the company said this week.

2016 witnessed a marked increase in maritime security incidents over the previous year, irrespective of the counting standards. Denmark-based Risk Intelligence counted 119 verified attacks by criminals on all kinds of vessels in West Africa (Senegal to Angola) - compared with 82 in 2015.
An unusually large number of icebergs have drifted into the shipping lanes of the North Atlantic in recent weeks, forcing vessels to detour well to the south to avoid danger. Coleman Worldwide Moving, LLC., recently purchased certain assets from A-Arnold Relocation. Coleman will begin operations as Coleman Worldwide Moving in both Louisville and Indianapolis. We are currently working with all customers, including the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, to ensure a smooth transition of those customer shipments currently in transit or storage. It is our intention to continue operations and services uninterrupted.
