IAM pays out just under $200,000 USD to settle qualified RPP Claims in 2016
Following the final claims review for the 2016 fiscal year, IAM is paying out $192,500 USD to settle qualified Unpaid Invoice Compensation claims submitted through the Receivable Protection Program (RPP). Unpaid Invoice Compensation is the primary benefit of the RPP, through which IAM compensates members whose invoices were not paid by other members who went out of business. RPP Unpaid Invoice Compensation protects your company from financial loss when conducting work on behalf of another IAM member.

Changes to IAM's Mentor Match program
IAM's Mentor Match program is now receiving more personalized attention in-house. Margaret Kerr will be managing the program personally. Previously we had a tool on IAM Connected to assist with the management of this valuable program but discovered over time that a personalized approach was the better solution. Many of you want to help others by being a mentor or perhaps want to find a mentor to advance your career. To do so, simply contact Margaret Kerr and she will be glad to assist you. Since its inception in 2009, 50 deserving individuals have been inducted into the Hall of Honor. Inductees have come from all over the world representing different aspects of the industry. It is not limited to individuals that have contributed to IAM and we welcome nominations of people who have made significant contributions regardless of whether they participated in IAM. The logistics and sea transportation sectors in Indonesia are now confused by government officials' indistinct statements and the issuance of different regulations related to the appointment of international hub ports in Indonesia.

The entire shipping industry - carriers and their customers and suppliers - need to come together to ensure that the supply chain disruption caused by the Hanjin bankruptcy never happens again, said Federal Maritime Commissioner William Doyle this week.
Chinese New Year affected airfreight demand in January, but nonetheless volumes improved during the month compared with a year earlier. The latest figures from analyst WorldACD show that air cargo demand in weight terms improved by 4.9% year on year in January, with the origins Asia Pacific and North America registering improvements of more than 7%.
Asia-Pacific and Middle East airports continued their "overall growth trajectory" for airfreight volumes in 2016, according to December and full year regional statistics released by Airports Council International (ACI). Cargo throughputs at airports in Asia-Pacific and Middle East grew 10.9% and 10.4% respectively in December 2016, with full year increases of 4.5% for Asia-Pacific and a rise of 5.8% in the Middle East.

Construction of the $US 3.8bn 472km Mombasa - Nairobi standard-gauge railway (SGR) is due to be completed in March by China Railway and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), which has a 10-year concession to operate the line, to allow test running to begin in preparation for the start of train operation in June.
Mumbai Port, the country's biggest state-owned port, will see its staff strength halve by 2021 as large number of employees are due for retirement. With the port having no plans of fresh hiring to replace the retired employees, it is gearing up for a strong operating profit in the coming years. As on March 31, 2016, Mumbai Port has a staff strength of 10,364 employees.

New World appoints Director of Government Services and Compliance
Christopher J Duello joined New World International's management team as Director of Government Services and Compliance per February 15th, 2017. In this role, Chris will lead the Government teams in New World's HQ (Chicago), EMEA (Rotterdam) and APAC (Shanghai) offices and is responsible for driving growth and service excellence related to all international and domestic GSA, Department of State and Department of Defense business. Atlas World Group International Appoints Tim Hall Vice President of Business Development

Crown Worldwide Moving & Storage announced today that its Board of Directors has appointed Salvatore (Tori) Ferrante as President and Chief Executive Officer effective immediately.
