New treatment requirements for China-bound shipments

October 16, 2018

Treatment against the risk of yellow fever

All shipments originating from the following countries should be treated against mosquitoes due to the risk of yellow fever: Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo-Brazzaville and Guyana. Treatment should take place before shipments leave their origin countries. Proof of treatment must be confirmed via an official certificate.

Disinfection against the risk of cholera

All shipments originating from the following countries must be disinfected against the risk of cholera: Yemen, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Niger, Cameroon and Algeria. Treatment should take place before shipments leave their origin countries. Proof of treatment must be confirmed via an official certificate.

For both cases, if treatment is not completed at origin, it will be carried out by Chinese quarantine authorities on arrival. This operation will extend clearance time by at least 48 hours and will result in additional charges.

Please note that these requirements are effective immediately and valid until 31 December 2018 (at least) but may be extended further.
