Why Wall Street Thinks Tesla’s Electric Truck Makes Sense

Two investment houses published reports this week outlining their expectations for how Tesla will move into heavy duty trucking later this month. The argument starts with the premise that electric trucks will be more competitive and capture a higher share of the global truck market than most expect. By the mid-2020’s, 10 percent of the U.S. trucks in the heaviest Class 8 weight segment and 15 percent of the trucks in the lighter Class 5 through 7 segments Trucks could be fully electric, said Rod Lache, an analyst at Deutsche Bank.
